日本(にほん)のホテルや大型(おおがた)レストランでは問題(もんだい)ないのですが、多(おお)くのお店(みせ)では現金(げんきん)が必要(ひつよう)です。ですから、どこかで日本円(にほんえん)を引(ひ)き出(だ)すか、お持(も)ちのお金(かね)を日本円(にほんえん)に両替(りょうがえ)する必要(ひつよう)があります。

まず行(い)ってはいけないところは、空港(くうこう)などにある両替(りょうがえ)キオスクです。為替(かわせ)レートが非常(ひじょう)に悪(わる)く換金(かんきん)するだけで数十(すうじゅう)％の損(そん)をすることになります。お持(も)ちの現金(げんきん)を日本円(にほんえん)に両替(りょうがえ)したい場合(ばあい)は、空港(くうこう)を含(ふく)めて銀行(ぎんこう)で行(おこな)ってください。

私(わたし)の場合(ばあい)は両替(りょうがえ)ではなく、デビットカードを使(つか)って日本(にほん)のATMで日本円(にほんえん)を米国(べいこく)の口座(こうざ)から引(ひ)き出(だ)す方法(ほうほう)を使(つか)います。その場合(ばあい)は、海外(かいがい)のトランザクションフィーがかからないカードを使(つか)ってください。ATMは銀行(ぎんこう)ではなく、色々(いろいろ)なところにあるコンビニエンスストアを使(つか)うのが便利(べんり)です。

あと、クレジットカードを使(つか)う場合(ばあい)も、海外(かいがい)のトランザクションフィーがかからないカードを出発(しゅっぱつ)前(まえ)に作(つく)ることをお勧(すす)めします。


Where to exchange money when you arrive in Japan

In Japan, there is no problem at hotels and large restaurants, but in many stores, you will need cash. Therefore, you will need to withdraw Japanese yen or exchange your money for Japanese yen somewhere.

You should not exchange your money at a money exchange kiosk in the airport. The exchange rate is very poor and you can lose a significant amount of money just by converting it. If you want to convert your cash into Japanese yen, please do it at a bank, this could include banks within the airport.

In my case, I use my debit card to withdraw Japanese yen from my US account at ATMs in Japan instead of converting my cash. It is convenient to use ATMs at convenience stores in various locations instead of banks.

Also, if you are using a credit card, I recommend that you get a card that does not charge foreign transaction fees before you leave.
